The public stood up from their seats in the Teatro de la Paz to offer the Austrian pianist, Hanna Bachmann, a standing ovation lasting for ten minutes. Bachmann was the special guest for the concerts this weekend with the Orquesta Sinfónica de San Luis Potosí. Beethoven and Johannes Brahms were the composers that integrated the concert programme.

As a token of her gratitude for the public’s ovation, the pianist offered two piano solo pieces as encore, one of them a tango, where she displayed her great preparation as a performer, showing the concert attendants why she was invited to the Gala Ambassadors Concert in the Musikverein in Vienna in 2017.

The event started with the “Piano Concert No. 3 in c minor, Op. 37” of Beethoven. The direction of the OSSLP was carried out by Maestro José Miramontes Zapata. The first work was followed by the “Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 68” of Johannes Brahms.

Hanna Bachmann’s elegance as a performer is unquestionable, and the complement of the OSSLP has been very successful. Today is the pianist’s last performance with the same programme at 12:30 on the same stage. Bachmann has participated in festivals specialised in Beethoven’s music in Bonn, Germany.

On the other hand, last Friday Francisco García Rojas has taken over as director of the Teatro de la Paz, who has been appointed after the resignation of Andrés Lecuanda. The new director is committed to his work plan to promote the OSSLP seasons, as well as bringing shows and events for children.

In a short interview, Francisco Gracía Rojas announced a great programme for the 125th anniversary of the Coloso de Villerías starting in the earlier months of 2019. The festivities are planned to finish with strong activities around November 4th, 2019 – the date when the anniversary is celebrated.
