Bachmann Shines in Explosive Totentanz

[…] Born in 1993, Hanna Bachmann may well be regarded as one of the region’s greatest piano talents, and after an active international concert career, the young pianist from Vorarlberg once again appeared on a local stage. The contrast to Fauré’s rather sweet melodies could hardly have been greater when she immediately struck the opening chords of Franz Liszt’s Totentanz with vigorous energy. Deep bass notes and the tuba propelled the orchestra forward, making the drama palpable. Despite the demanding interplay of high and low, loud and soft, fast and slow, the thread was never lost, and the collaboration between soloist and orchestra unfolded as though cast from a single mold.
