CD recommendation by Fritz Jurmann in the Vorarlberger Nachrichten, June 19th 2021.
The concert pianist Hanna Bachmann, originally from Röthis and already active internationally with her recitals, drew considerable attention with her first two solo albums featuring a carefully chosen repertoire. With two further new CD releases, she now expands her artistic scope into the additional disciplines of a versatile pianist—first as a chamber musician with the Trio Schwarzenberg, and on this album as a song accompanist. Here, the soloist transforms into an equal partner, bringing the required sensitivity and flexibility to the collaboration.
This results in a wonderful artistic partnership with the magnificently rounded mezzo-soprano Elsa Janulidu, who hails from Athens and studied in Vienna and Zurich. Their collaboration is marked by mutual inspiration and deep respect. Thus, this colourful song cycle—spanning dreamscapes from Haydn to Piazzolla—revolves around gentle unreality, without ever losing the necessary grounding in musical substance.
